Alternative Learning Center for Children on the Autism Spectrum
We are now a nonprofit and are accepting tax-free donations!
Our Mission
To engage learners in the areas of communication, language, academics, & social development, by providing a natural, yet structured environment that welcomes and accommodates each child’s unique personality and learning style.
Philosophy
UTU integrates a multitude of interventions, tailored to each child’s developmental abilities. Combining techniques and principals such as Applied Behavior Analysis, Relationship Directed Instruction, Floortime, and a language rich environment is essential for bridging the gaps that we so often recognize in children diagnosed on the spectrum.
Building a rapport with each student is key to building the skills necessary to acquire and apply skills in other environments. UTU recognizes that both parents and professionals are an important part of the success of our children and welcome ideas and suggestions.
Goals are developed via observations, assessments, and parent input. UTU has high, but realistic expectations for all children and welcomes the diversity of each child.
